About Catherine
I have been a printmaker for 42 years. I received a BA from Sophie Newcomb College in 1981 and continued my education with a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University in 1989. I used printmaking to enhance my architecture projects to illustrate vignettes of my work. Later, I became one of the founding members of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio in Atlanta, GA.
After moving to Tuscaloosa, AL, I purchased my own press and currently have a large home studio with a silkscreen box, etching acid bath, and supplies. I have a vast collection of work in etchings, silkscreens, photo etchings, Xerox transfers, monoprints, drawing, painting, and mixed media. My work includes a series of large leaves I ink and put through the press and 1950s clothing including night gowns, children’s clothing, and scans of these garments, as well. I also have a series of dreams I etched in black ink and hand watercolored. A lot of my work is mixed media with silkscreen and collage mixed in along with watercolor and pencil drawing. My collection also includes several personal commissions of etchings of special life events and photo etchings of portraits, some hand watercolored. I continue to explore new techniques and experiment with different things put through the press. This is my passion.
